First green on the Nerello Mascalese block this morning, a touch ahead of last year. Volcanic montane with sharp diurnal swings. If a cold night lands we'll be out before dawn.

Winemaker
Old-vine Nerello on black lava β Sicily's high-altitude live wire. The estate behind this lot is named only to enrolled members; until then you're backing the region, the style, and a verified track record β not a label.
Linguaglossa, Sicily was a farming town long before it was a wine name. The family sold fruit to bigger houses for years before keeping it back and bottling under our own label.
βBud break came on schedule this year. Volcanic montane with sharp diurnal swings β I'm watching the canopy after last week's weather. Fruit set looks even.β
β the winemaker, updated this month
I farm for the place, not the score. Black volcanic ash and decomposed lava sand under Nerello Mascalese. Native ferments, restrained oak, and the patience to bottle late rather than thin.
